Duplicity: Opt Outs

Yuta
- Comments Screened / Replies go here.
I have an option for not interacting with Yuta until he's 18 or just opting out entirely. If this page doesn't get updated by next year, then he will be 18 years old on March 7, 2025. Opting out entirely does mean even general comments and non-sexual roleplay. If that's what you're after, please use this form and reply at the linked post above:
Opting out of Yuta will obviously opt out of Copy and doesn't need to be filled out if you choose this option.

Copy
- Comments Unscreened / Replies go here.
Yuta's ability is to copy cursed techniques. TL;DR, So that we don't have to, as I enjoy saying, Goku vs Superman, I will let you decide. You can retract permission at any time. If it isn't worked out ICly, or I feel is unclear in giving the goahead, I will PM the player if you haven't filled out the permissions to talk things over. - Yuta can only use these on his own without Rika, or his Domain, if he switches them out, that requires manifesting Rika. All my nefs and whatnot can be found on application until I make something prettier. I will be adhering to your nerfs that you imposed for their ability. Copy Opt Out is located here and please use the following format:

Name: Yuta Okkotsu
Door: Right

Canon: Jujutsu Kaisen
Canon Point: Chapter 263 (June 30, 2024)

Age: 17
Appearance: Full Body and a back-ish shot.

History: Here.
CR AU (Optional): N/A

Personality:
Positive Trait: Devotion:
Yuta Okkotsu possesses a remarkable amount of devotion to those he cares about around him or causes he puts himself toward. The parts of devotion, mainly loyalty and empathy, are hand in hand inseparable in my sincere honesty with Yuta regarding the people he cares most about. People who have shown that they’re capable of earning his trust, people who he fights to protect and the people who he works to earn the title of friend with. His empathetic nature allows him to deeply understand and resonate with the emotions of others he cares for, making him a reliable and supportive presence in their lives and seems to be key in the forming of that final bond that solidifies friendship for him. It’s not easy for Yuta to go to that step. For example: Though he was running a play, no one questioned that Yuta would willingly go through with the killing of another character who he deemed to have hurt Toge Inumaki. Zero questions asked, they (the Elders) assumed his loyalty to his friends would be an easy exploit that would work in their favour. Mind you they were right, but not in the way they hoped or wanted. He was easily able to move of his own accord all while tricking everyone else into thinking what they needed to think in order for the grand scheme of things to continue and no one to get needlessly hurt any more than they had to.

Throughout the series, Yuta consistently demonstrates this by standing by his friends through thick and thin. Such as JJK0 where he fought to protect them not knowing if Geto was right or not (avoiding big plot spoilers). It was more important to him that his friends live, survive and thrive since that was the only thing he could be certain of. They had devoted themselves to him, and him to them. Everything else was sideline. He also lends himself to allies in times of need with things like The Culling Games where he willingly enters, knowing he will have to kill or be killed just to gather information for them and work on the inside. There was a recent chapter which I will consider spoilers still even if it’s older than a week where he didn’t want to allow one of the characters to have to shoulder all the deplorable things they had to do for everyone else’s sake on their own anymore. In this case premeditated murder. No hesitation. Yuta is intensely driven by his emotions and isn’t opposed to going to great lengths to support and protect those that he cares or arguably loves in the familial sense.

Negative Traits
Top Negative Trait: Impulsive: Yuta often acts impulsively, driven by his emotions which leads to him having to plan on the fly. He’s good at that, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best idea. This impulsiveness can lead to reckless behavior and decisions that put himself in danger. In the most recent chapters, though not the only chapters as per the culling game already mentioned, he decides that he is going to put his actual life on the line with a self sacrifice that’s more akin to a suicide mission. This is his ‘oh shit’ button if you will, but he knows going into it that he will likely have to use it if all else fails and is without a doubt ready to throw down his life just for the chance to win and keep protecting people. He’s never tried it, it’s all theory– maybe very sound theory, but still theory and he doesn’t even know if he just dies or what happens to him after. It doesn’t matter, if it’s what needs to be in the heat of the moment, it’s what needs to be and he will execute it without delay.

Negative Trait: Guilt-Ridden: Yuta carries immense guilt over the death of his childhood friend, Rika, which profoundly affects his emotional stability at times and influences his decisions regarding himself and his living friends. Again referenced in JJK0 when he makes a binding vow that is supposed to forfeit his life for the ability to be able to beat Geto and save his friends.

Rika's death was a tragic event that Yuta blames himself for, as he believes his inability to control his cursed powers led to her being cursed. He wants nothing more than to break her curse and continue to learn to wield what he can after that task is completed. This is the whole premise of JJK0 let alone that it is the past that he has to draw upon to make himself better, stronger and more capable to never see it happen again. That he will never be so weak that his curse will be used for anything, even accidentally, unsavory toward someone who is more than just some casual opponent. He has hurt people, more than just Rika, through the embodiment of the curse he made her into. He feels he has a lot to atone for and it sticks with him. Referencing recent chapters from the positive section above, but he knows what it feels like to have something that heavy on your shoulders because he’s been there. He’s carried the acts that he can’t make up for and continues to even now.

Negative Trait: Socially Withdrawn/Awkward: At first, Yuta wants to isolate himself from others due to his traumatic past and the burden of his powers. Not to mention what he did to Rika and the worry that he will do it to someone else. In the formative years of his life after Rika’s death and subsequent rebirth, he spent most of his time worrying what Rika would or wouldn’t do. This is the whole start of JJK0. Things like hurt people around him which she did often, like mashing multiple people into a locker- yes a school sized, highschool-esque, locker- for trying to bully him. His solution was to allow someone to execute him and until then live a life of solitude. He had already tried doing that but this gave him a more realistic out until Gojo interfered and gave him a small trajectory. It didn’t change the fundamentals of what I’ve mentioned, but it gave him a chance for something that wasn’t just dying in a room alone.

Not realizing he was the catalyst for her curse, or how to control her, or himself where his cursed technique is concerned is obviously something that would have overshadowed his ability to make friends or be too very social with Rika looming at every moment. He was also a little bit of an outcast in his family because of his erratic behaviour that his family couldn’t understand being unaware of his cursed technique or Jujutsu sorcery at all. It means he doesn’t have the skills to deal with everything specifically in conversations or maybe is awkward about his answers, not in a socially dense way but just that maybe he has to navigate things a little more differently these days.

Powers and Abilities:

Overall Nerf/TL;DR

  • Yuta has 3 usable curses (IC or in game acquired) without Rika, the canon backing up is a side statement by Yuki as seen here.
  • I will list those once he acquires them somewhere on info or permissions or both and they will have the same nerfs the player imposed on them if it’s non-JJK. The three he has use of will not be ‘there’ on arrival, he will have to ‘copy’ them from a non JJK Character or pull them from Rika if he’s previously used it in the series. I will not use something JJK-verse if someone asks me not to.
  • Rika can only be summoned to manifest for five minutes in which he will be able to switch up the three curses he’s carrying, or use them in conjunction with others within the limitations of Rika’s manifestation.
  • This is the only point at which he could use other curses at his disposal that he stores within her. Canon or In Game acquired.
  • Rika’s manifestation will have a cooldown based on the state of Yuta’s body in reference to debuffs by in-game happenings, energy expended already, situation, mun comfort on both sides, dice rolls, asks not to use, etc will be employed. If he’s happy, healthy and fit then he’ll be able to use her two times a day. If he isn’t, then he’s limited to once. If I’m feeling really evil, not at all. Ye olde ‘y u no work?’.
  • “Copy” I will let people decide if they’re not a JJKland sorcerer and if it’s canon they can always revoke his privileges by just messaging me and letting me know. This includes revocation that is temporary like ‘huh that’s odd, why didn’t RCT work on x y z injury?’ or ‘Wow it sure is weird that you had my eye laser ability for like three minutes, how’d that happen?’. The answer? Shrug emoji ICly (essentially) and OOCly, because we agreed it wasn’t what helped the thread, wasn’t what the other mun (or myself) wanted for the thread or whatever have you.
  • Domain Expansion (see below) will be a much more limited range, subject to dice or just again the other player/myself nullifying something about it or completely. I will explain more in that section.

Innate Ability/Cursed Technique: Copy

Yuta Okkotsu’s primary method of using his innate ability involves Rika Orimoto, a powerful cursed spirit turned Shikigami after events in JJK0. This “Shikigami” gift, left behind by the original Rika, grants him immense power and a variety of abilities utilized through his technique, utilizing Rika herself, cursed tools, cursed energy and or all of the above. As the name in the title implies, and to keep it brief, he copies other cursed techniques to store and use as his own. Most prominent is the use of Cursed Speech, an Inumaki Clan exclusive.

In the case of Quirks or other abilities that are or are not based in DNA, I will leave it up to the player if they would like to allow him to use their ability. That way I’m not stepping on toes or like “Goku vs Superman”-ing a situation where it doesn’t need to be. I’m a stern believer that this is a hobby not a chore or a contest, so it’s easier that way. Things that he can already manifest in canon I will consider part of his arsenal, but if a mun (present or incoming) contacts me and asks me not to, then that’s how it goes.

  • Rika

    • Manifestation: Yuta can summon a Shikigami-like version of the original Rika who appears as a monstrous, spectral figure capable of combat on her own or intertwined with Yuta’s attacks. This link is done through the ring that he wears. And while she is still the same old Rika in personality and sometimes in partial manifestation to protect Yuta without him asking, he has greater control over her now. The partial manifestations do not seem to be linked to the ring alone. She possesses incredible strength and durability, making her a formidable ally in combat. However, here in Duplicity, she will be scaled down and her attacks skewed toward not having the immeasurable world-ending hits that she has. If used, they’re more like normal to high end cursed energy attacks depending on Yuta’s state and will also affect Yuta’s energy pool proportionately. Yuta also comes with a built-in cursed energy fountain, so to speak, that sustains a lot of the things he does and so anything that affects his energy will affect her potency. Or even the timer on her manifestation to less time manifested. Further, he doesn’t just manifest her to reach a high shelf (he’s tall, he can do that himself) funny as that may be one day. Her limit is five minutes in the series and so when he does manifest her, it will be five minutes in-game, too. That gives him less time to attack, to switch his curses, to keep her out, and I’ll impose a ‘cooldown’ in reference to his physical state depending on what that state is each time. Think like glass canon if he’s at his limit/reaches the end of his rope. He can and does use Reverse Cursed Technique (later explained and hereon in RCT) on himself to reverse damage and sometimes replenish himself, but that will also be dependent on his state of body here and how much energy that expends re: his energy affecting her potency in manifestation.
  • Cursed Energy

    • Vast Reserves: Briefly, Yuta has an enormous amount of cursed energy. This allows him to perform high-level techniques without exhausting himself quickly. Having said that, it’s not impossible to tire him out or wear him down, it just takes a lot. Even at a base value. Once more, responsible contact and communication is going to be key here and I will take into consideration the state of his body as well as any game-modifiers he’s going through to put it less crassly.
    • Cursed Energy Manipulation: Yuta can manipulate his cursed energy with great precision, enhancing his physical attacks or using it to fuel his cursed techniques. This nerf is more of the same, state of his body, game-situations or the situation as a whole. Yuta doesn’t just pull it out to pull it out, pun unintended. He’s more likely to try to use fists with minimal energy and see where that takes him. They’re very likely all trained to only use what they need and Yuta is no different. I’m sure there are some character exceptions, but I mean this specifically in reference to Yuta.

Copied Cursed Techniques Temporary List

Since it’s been said already I’ll keep this little synopsis brief, but it does garner its own section down here for a reason. Yuta has demonstrated the ability to copy other cursed techniques, normally it would only be three-ish but utilizing Rika to house them has made him a wellspring of cursed techniques at his call and only when Rika is fully manifested. Since Rika likely needs to manifest for more of them this would still keep true to the character and allow for use of his full range of abilities without game breaking. Again Yuta isn’t just going to throw this around for fun. If he’s training and the training is serious, then yes of course, but I will reiterate he’s more likely to use less force and ramp up where needed unless for some reason there’s some extenuating circumstance that I don’t foresee. For a more well rounded example of how ‘Copy’ essentially works I’ll use Toge Inumaki for example since we see this used more than once in more than one way.

  • Inumaki Clan's Cursed Speech

    • Effect: By copying Toge Inumaki’s cursed technique, Yuta can use Cursed Speech commands to manipulate opponents’ actions. For example, he can say "explode" to make a target explode or "sleep" to put them to sleep as Inumaki has. Only Yuta cheats because he has RCT and can just reverse the damage to his throat. Cheater. You’re a cheater, Yuta.
    • Example Usage: Yuta can also have Rika hand him an imbued item or tool (please see Inventory section for more info, I’m definitely not about making ‘items from home’ infinite with her). In the above example, a megaphone was used to amplify his voice when using this technique. It’s not the only way but it serves my purpose to be able to explain the item use alongside it.
  • Reverse Cursed Technique

    • Self-Healing: The infamous RCT I keep typing about. Yuta has demonstrated an advanced healing ability, capable of rapidly recovering from injuries by manipulating cursed energy. While Yuta does have boundless cursed energy, it’s not infinite and even less so here. So while he won’t hesitate to use it, the more he uses it the more it drains him and will again be subject to the state of his own body, in game-situations/debuffs and energy already expended here.
    • Healing Others: He can also heal others, as shown when he healed Maki, Panda and Toge during combat in JJK0. This also can extend to things like poisoned characters who need poison removed. He has become so proficient at it that he faked Yuji’s death by applying the technique the moment he also stopped Yuji’s heart. The same nerf applies, but also the ‘huh why didn’t that work?’ is available if a mun does not wish it to be. After all, it’d be my character affecting theirs so I would rather ask either ICly or if I’m really concerned I will contact them OOCly. Sidenote about RCT: If the person’s body has been damaged down to their very soul, Yuta and all his abilities are useless to heal them. Otherwise, he certainly could heal an arm, a leg, someone’s eye, a condition a mun would like to help rid themselves or their character of. If it’s a large injury or an old injury, for Duplicity at least, I would rather do this over a slower ‘multiple application’ type thing if it isn’t small cuts, bruises or minor breaks of course but it is an option. Everything to the comfort of the mun involved and myself of course as per how I have been saying it in each category, and within the limitations of above/game/debuff/etc.
    • Other Techniques

      • Black Flash: Black Flash refers to an advanced and highly powerful technique used by skilled sorcerers. It involves an ultra-fast and precise strike that occurs within an incredibly short time frame of one millionth of a second. When a sorcerer successfully performs Black Flash, it results in a massive increase in the power of their attack, delivering an impact that surpasses the limits of normal physical strikes. As you can imagine with Yuta that feels likely as though eighty planets just hit you. So. Nerfed as usual! Limited hit, mun comfort, situation dependant, debuff dependant, energy dependant, dice rolls, whatever else to make sure it’s not just smack and go.

    Physical Abilities

    • Enhanced Strength: Yuta’s physical strength is significantly enhanced by his cursed energy, allowing him to overpower opponents in hand-to-hand combat.
    • Enhanced Durability: He can withstand powerful attacks, both physical and cursed, without sustaining significant damage thanks to the energy he imbues through his body to cover it.
    • Enhanced Speed: Yuta’s speed and reflexes are enhanced, enabling him to dodge attacks and move swiftly in battle.
    • Swordsmanship: Yuta is proficient in swordsmanship, often using a katana in combat. His cursed energy further amplifies the effectiveness of his sword techniques.
    • Hand-to-Hand Combat: Yuta is skilled in close-quarters combat, capable of fighting effectively without relying solely on his cursed techniques. He has been trained without the use of cursed energy just as much as he has with it.

    Special Moves and Techniques

    • Domain Expansion: Yuta’s domain is “Authentic Mutual Love” as seen in Chapter 249. It is considered one of the most powerful domains to have been summoned where it’s ability to use even a copied curse he gets through RNG choosing one of the swords will be a direct and sure hit. I’m limiting it to a smaller sphere of influence which will depend on the situation, his energy, etcetc. If it is used against another player; Contact, dice or pre-decided outcome will be my go to. Domains are a guaranteed hit to the opponent (unless we decide otherwise/I/the other player). These aren’t things to willynilly summon, they’re serious business. The only time I could see him doing it without there being an imminent threat is to continue to train to use it efficiently at its smaller state. I can’t foresee every situation, but I certainly can offer that small frame of reference.

    Unique Attributes

    • Exceptional Talent: Yuta is considered a prodigy in the Jujutsu world, with the potential to surpass even the most powerful sorcerers. He has more than proven that over the year that he’s been there with them becoming one of the most prolific powerhouses, if not the most prolific, that they have within a society as rich in diverse levels of cursed energy and high rankings of the adult sorcerers around him who have trained intensely for years, not just one.
    • Adaptability: Yuta’s ability to study and understand new techniques quickly makes him highly adaptable in various combat situations. Even more so if he’s applying Copy to it.

Yuta Okkotsu is a powerhouse. Combining an immense amount of cursed energy with a wide array of techniques and formidable physical abilities. His bond with Rika Orimoto’s “Shikigami” and his capacity to learn and adapt make him one of the most versatile, formidable, dangerous and powerful of Jujutsu Sorcerers.

    Inventory:
    - His Katana+it’s wrapping/sheath.
    - This megaphone to store in Rika. One use item. If he wants to use it in that method again and not just slap it on himself, look like nightmare fuel and deal with the consequences of Cursed Speech on your throat, he’ll have to find something suitable.
    - His cell phone even if it doesn't work to connect to anything here and only just turns on.

    Samples:

Before you read the samples, Sample 2 has recent canon spoilers.

Sample 1: TDM - I hadn't chosen a canon point at this time, but it stands the same I think!

    Sample 2
Yuta hadn't expected to be anything but dead. Very dead. Extremely dead. Or in the very least, stuck in a corpse he wouldn't like to be stuck in and yet for some reason, here he is. In a place that subjugated people at seemingly random from what he could ascertain. There was nothing really to indicate that he had been lied to by the people who had done his and Inumaki's intake the first time he had seen the man. It was unnerving to go home, come back and wonder if he was still there or if Yuta had left him to fend for himself in a scheme that no one could finish but Yuta. If he didn't succeed, Inumaki, Maki, Panda, everyone else would be as dead as he should be.

He can say with no uncertainty that being here was the better of the two options for himself, but not when it came to knowing that people back home might be taking the brunt of this second impromptu vacation. This place wasn't so different from there. Eat or be eaten, do what you have to do to survive and don't look back on how you had to get there if it means maybe being able to take care of those around you. Maybe Yuta was reading into the last part of it, or maybe he was reading into the Dom role of this place a little too heavily. No one had really stopped to give him the time of day. Only more ghosts. Nanami-sensei for instance. Someone who shouldn't be alive let alone alive and offering to take him for curry.

Passing one of the open air stands, his stomach reminded him that he hadn't had much to eat that day. Who would have? Or maybe Gojo hadn't? Which stomach was he relying on anymore? This one, he supposed, the one making a rumbling noise at the food he couldn't get just yet. He had to go back to the orientation. Maybe he would take another ride on the train? That was a good way to clear his head, it had been before even if he hadn't really been able to muster the energy to speak to anyone on there and anyone he had, had ignored him. Misery loves company he guesses and maybe that kind of misery he could give company. Two people sitting adjacent from each other, never speaking while one of them wondered if they should?

He shakes his head, manifesting the foolishness of that in his mind and adjusting the sword on his back while he continued on his way. If he could remember how to contact people, maybe he would look to see if Nanami-sensei was still there. Not for food reasons but just so that he could feel a little more stable on his own two feet. Some firm ground to jump from. Or if Inumaki was still there, despite being the one of the two of them to be best equipped for most situations, he still felt safer with the shorter teen around. ...Even if Rika wouldn't exactly let something unsavory happen.

Well. Time to pretend he wasn't just a tired, confused and introspective mess in that moment. "Ah! Excuse me!" he asks someone, sheepish smile on his face. "Could you point me to the orientation building again? I've forgotten my way." Here's hoping they're more friendly than the last time.

Bakerstreet Stuff

I am brand spanking new to RPing in this fandom, even if I've been studying it for a while and I will make mistakes and there will be hiccups, but I will try to minimize those as much as possible.

These are always open to anyone, M/M and M/F is just fine by me. Canon, cross canon, I can even try to roll with OCs and see where that goes. My work time sometimes gets in the way of my tag returning speed, but I'll tag back.
